TITLE: Director of Auxiliary Angel Volunteers (may be a Co-Chair position)
SERVICE DESCRIPTION: The special individual (or pair of individuals) willing to fill this leadership volunteer position(s) will work closely with Angel Paws' Executive Director to develop, maintain and coordinate a core group of committed Auxiliary Angel Volunteers for a variety of activities. Please click HERE for more information about various Auxiliary Angel Activities. Most group activities take place in the Newark area but some in the Columbus are as well.
TIME COMMITMENT: Time commitment will be vary widely depending on project schedule.
FUNCTIONS: The Director (or Co-Chair) of Auxiliary Angels will function as the assistant to Angel Paws' Executive Director for work on various activities including Fundraising Events, Special Projects, Information Booths, Community Relations Presentations, Workshops, Skills & Aptitude Evaluations and miscellaneous activities in support of our Animal Assisted Activities & Therapy program. Autonomy on projects will depend on knowledge, previous experience, ability and desire.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director (or Co-Chair) of Auxiliary Angels will initially share responsibility for and ultimately be responsible for recruiting, motivating and supporting Auxiliary Angels and for coordinating and scheduling auxiliary volunteer support for various events, activities and projects. Detailed and timely communications with volunteers and Executive Director in the process of planning and meeting deadlines is essential. Advance preparation, detailed communication and training of volunteers prior to events and activities may often be required along with creative ideas and ability to implement fundraising and community relations ideas.
REQUIREMENTS: The Director (or Co-Chair) of Auxiliary Angels must be organized, have good to excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills and be proficient with basic computer skills such as word processing and e-mail. Spread sheets, photography, newsletter formats and graphic arts a plus. Must be able to motivate, train and work with a variety of individuals and meet deadlines. Special event planning and fundraising experience highly desirable. Must be able to maintain a delicate balance between gentle kindness and patience yet still be assertive enough to communicate effectively. Should be creative and have high standards of attention to detail in communication, advance planning and presentation when required. Must have an interest in and basic to thorough understanding of (or be willing to learn) Angel Paws Mission, Method and Core Values (including training & registration process and standards of practice) and be a loyal and effective advocate for the program. Must also be tolerant, supportive and forgiving of co-workers in high stress situations.
