Be the wind beneath the paws of your own animal/handler therapy team!  
We wish that willing open hearts & friendly pets were all the qualifications necessary to share the love our pets have to offer those in need.  However to be truly safe and effective this work requires a substantial training and registration process which costs money many eager candidates can not afford.  Even with our substantial affiliate member discount the required training & registration fees can be cost prohibitive for otherwise qualified volunteer candidates.  Please consider sponsoring a scholarship for a qualified animal/handler therapy team in need of financial assistance.    

  • Full or Partial Scholarships named for sponsors will be available to qualified candidates only.  Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of animal suitability for therapy work, candidate commitment to the process of training and preparation, and financial need. 

  • Scholarships may be sponsored by corporations, small businesses, clubs, foundations or individuals.  Memorial scholarships may be named after a beloved pet or family member.  

  • Scholarship recipients will update sponsors on training progress and on-going therapy work.  The team's uniform polo shirt and pet bandana will include a personalized scholarship patch with sponsors name & logo on it if the sponsor chooses.   

  • Benefits to sponsors include name exposure while the team conducts Therapeutic Health Care visits &/or Reading Education Assistance dogs (R.E.A.D.) literacy mentoring sessions and presentations, media exposure, inspirational photo op for web sites, company newsletters and advertisements, moral boosters for employees and clients etc.

Costs to Volunteers Include:
  • Dog Training can cost from $150. to $300. & up depending on the individual
  • Handlers Workshop   $50.
  • Pet Partners Registration $50.
  • (Animal Health Screen by Veterinarian)
  • (Uniform polo shirt & pet bandana)
* R.E.A.D. Training & Registration is required in addition to Pet Partners Training & Registration for R.E.A.D. members only.  
Full Scholarships
  • 12 wks Dog Trng, Wrkshp & Reg  - $400.
  • 6 wks Dog Trng, Wrkshp & Reg -  $250.
Partial Scholarships
  • Workshop & Registration - $100.
  • Registration Only - $50.
* Dog Training & Workshop Scholarship funds may be awarded in the form of a reimbursement to the candidate after the animal/handler team passes the required Pet Partners Skills & Aptitude Test & On-Site Training to assure suitability.
