More and more campuses across the country are including Animal Assisted Interventions to relieve student stress (see research studies and VIDEOS below!) so Angel Paws is pleased to participate in this popular new application of Animal Assisted Interventions.  Angel Paws Volunteer Animal-Handler Therapy Team availability varies. Advance notice is requested.

Angel Paws is proud to be a Community Partner of Pet Partners!  Pet Partners is widely recognized as the Gold Standard of Animal Assisted Activities & Therapy Volunteer Screening, Training and Best Practices for a variety of programs.  You might find Pet Partners' free webinar titled "Best Practices for Hosting a College Stress Relief Event" below helpful.  We are eager to do all we can to help you & hope you will understand that our commitment to quality over quantity limits the amount of available qualified teams so it is often challenging to fulfill the many requests we receive.

All Angel Paws' Pet Partners therapy animals & handlers will arrive in uniform, with photo ID's, photo calling cards and everything they need for a happy visit.  Our teams never visit for more than 2 hours at a time and may need to take a break or leave earlier.  Usually 1 to 1.5 hours is best.

SCIENTIFIC PROOF THAT ANIMALS HELP RELIEVE STUDENT STRESS IN CASES OF MATH ANXIETY!

In 2004 the International Journal of Psychophysiology published a study  on the Frontal Midline Theta Activity as an Index of the Efficacy of Animal-Assisted Therapy in Cases of Math Anxiety.  The study examined the use of an electrophysiological measure to investigate the efficacy of Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) for relieving anxiety during a mental arithmetic stressor task.  The findings suggested that the beneficial effect of therapy dogs on anxiety is robust, as it occurs regardless of whether the participant is engaged in a stressor task that intrinsically involves material related to a participant’s anxiety disorders.  See  document below to read more about the study.  The most recent and comprehensive compilation on the scientific research on the benefits of Animal Assisted Activities & Therapy in a variety of applications and the Human Animal Bond in general can be found on the Human Animal Bond Research Initiative (HABRI) HABRI Central web site at http://habricentral.org

Angel Paws' "Paws on Campus" is proud to have partnered with Denison University to establish their monthly "First Fridays" events designed to relieve student stress and anxiety sponsored by Denison's Health & Counseling Services and Office of Alcohol, Drug, & Health Education.  Denison University, an independent coeducational residential college of liberal arts and sciences founded in 1831, is located atop the beautiful rolling hills of charming Granville, Ohio.
