Salena Thrasher
Salena Thrasher’s life has been about service since she was a teenager. “I’ve always enjoyed helping others and the opportunity to combine my experiences to help children and adults with my dog Yankee was a wonderful blessing in my life,” says Salena. Salena brings past experience working as Teacher and Assistant Director of the Pride & Joy pre-school to the Angel Paws “Puppy Tales” R.E.A.D.® program along with her position as Director of the Heath Church of Christ Children’s Library. Salena worked as a Circulation Clerk at Newark Public Library and is also a member of the Licking River Kennel Club. Salena and Yankee (rescued as a 2 years old racing “reject” due to epilepsy) began visiting Autumn Health Care as Angel Paws registered Pet Partners® in November 2005 and became a registered Angel Paws Reading Education Assistance Dogs® (R.E.A.D.®) team in January 2006. Salena and Yankee also served as Angel Paws' Neutral Dog Team in all required Delta Society Pet Partners Skills & Aptitude Tests. In early 2010, shortly after his retirement with over 175 hours of service, Yankee sadly crossed The Rainbow Bridge. We were very grateful that Salena accepted our invitation to join our Board of Directors in 2010. Salena currently lives in Granville, Ohio with husband Mark, son Tristen, Torrey the boxer, 3 cats, ? goats, Nalla the working Guardian Great Pyrenese Mountain Dog, 2 rats, 1 mouse, 1 turtle and a group of garden pond goldfish.
